PERFORMANCE / EXHIBITION / INSTALLATION

"Curated by New York art world veteran, Kassandra Wrutherby, this exhibition of student work explores concepts of identity, art patronage and portraiture."

Nothing Of Me Is Original: Unframing Kassandra is an exhibition of nine students' portraits of Kassandra Wrutherby. By definition, portraiture is a representation of a figure made through painting, drawing, photography, engraving, etc. The ideal portrait effectively captures the sitter’s “likeness”; it penetrates layers of façade to represent the subject perceptively and authentically. Unframing Kassandra unravels the traditional portrait, interrogating its cultural legacy.

Likeness was not the only goal for these student artists: they had to maintain a personal voice and vision while capturing Kassandra. This objective unified a disparate group of students who work from various backgrounds and artistic mediums.
